The transfer of business headquarters (HQs) continues to be a significant focus in the dynamic landscape of corporate strategy. Building upon CBRE Americas Consulting's 2023 research, we have expanded our 2025 analysis to examine HQ relocation trends by year, reason, industry and geography. We offer key questions to consider when planning a relocation strategy and identify markets that are gaining and losing HQs. Our updated research includes a total of 561 public announcements, an increase of 96 new HQ announcements in 2024.

While our compilation does not capture every HQ relocation, the increased volume of data allows us to identify and analyze emerging patterns and strategies in corporate real estate with greater precision. This growing list of relocation announcements highlights the evolving considerations and motivations behind corporate moves, offering valuable perspectives for stakeholders involved in corporate strategy and real estate planning.
